DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern had six players in double figures en route to setting a new season high in points, defeating Texas A&M-Commerce, 109-76, on Sunday afternoon in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The Savage Storm improve to 12-5 on the year and 2-2 in Lone Star Conference North Division play and will be in action again at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 when they travel to Lawton, Okla., to face Cameron.

Kacey Russell led the team with 21 points, scoring 16 of those in the first half, while Destiny Brown was right behind at 18.

With those points, Brown becomes the 10th players in program history to break the 1,000-point plateau and is tied with Vicki Shved in ninth place with 1,002 career points.

Jessica Hesse added a season-high 17 points, while Christin Nichols added 14, Ashley Hobbs chipped in 12 and Elizabeth Dean rounded out the scorers with 11.

As a team, SE shot 51.3 percent from the field, while holding A&M-C to 37.0 percent.

Brown completed the double-double, her sixth of the season, with 10 rebounds, helping the Storm to a 57-to-40 advantage on the boards.

The trio of Russell, Brown and Bailey Welch each collected five assists to lead the Storm, while SE dished out 26 total, with 10 of the 11 players earning at least one.

Southeastern got on the board first, and trailed just twice in the contest, at 5-4 with 16:56 to play and at 7-6 with 15:21 to play.

By the 12:02 mark of the first half the lead had stretched to double figures with SE pulling away to take a 59-34 lead at halftime.

The Storm maintained their advantage throughout the second half to cruise to the 109-76 win.
