WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southeastern got 46 points from its bench and 18 points each from Destiny Brown and Elizabeth Dean en route to an 85-71 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon in Weatherford, Okla.

The Savage Storm improves to 19-6 and 9-3 in Lone Star Conference North Division play, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-23 and 2-10 on the season.

SE will be back in action on Feb. 24 when it travels to Denton, Texas, to face Texas Woman’s at 7 p.m.

Brown turned in her 11th double-double of the season with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The bench scoring was bolstered by Dean’s 18 points along with Jessica Hesse who chipped in 11.

SE held a 38-to-34 rebounding edge thanks to Brown’s 11 boards along with six from Dean and five from Hesse.

Kacey Russel dished out a game-best four assists and added nine points, while Whitney Coffey also added nine points and grabbed four steals.

SE shot 55.4 percent on the night, while holding SWOSU to to 35.4 percent, mostly on the second half efforts in which the Storm shot 62.5 percent and defensively held the Bulldogs to 28.6 percent.

The first half was a slugfest, with neither team holding a lead bigger than five points.

SWOSU held a three-point lead with five seconds to play in the half, but a Brown three at the buzzer tied the game at 41-41 at the intermission.

A quick 9-2 run to open the half grabbed a 50-43 advantage for the Storm, which ballooned to 57-47 by the 12:02 mark in the second half.

The Bulldogs would close the gap to five points, but SE would put a strangle-hold on the game with a 13-0 run that culminated in a Hesse jumper with 6:06 to play and a 73-55 lead for the Storm.

SE would go on to win the game 85-71.
