DURANT, Okla. – Despite hitting a season-best 15 three-pointers and forcing overtime, Southeastern fell just short in its bid for a win in the regular season finale, falling 101-97 to Central Oklahoma on Saturday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 19-8 on the season and 9-5 in Lone Star Conference North Division play, slipping to fourth in the standings.

The fourth place finish sets up SE for a fourth-straight appearance in the LSC Postseason Tournament, where it will face West Texas A&M in the first round at 8:30 p.m. on March 4.

The Storm an impressive showing from its two seniors who were playing their final home contest, with Kacey Russell turning in a game-high 25 points and Destiny Brown picking up 20 points and 23 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the year.

In all, SE had five players in double figures as joining the senior duo were Elizabeth Dean with 18 points, Nikki Nester with 16 and Ashley Hobbs with 10.

On the strength of Brown’s career-best rebounding outing, SE out-boarded the Bronchos 49-to-38.

The Storm dished out 21 assists on the night as a team, with Russell pacing the squad with six, followed by Nester with five and Brown with four.

SE shot 43.7 percent from the floor, but was even better from behind the arc, hitting 48.4 percent for the game, including a 10-for-15 mark in the first half.

The contest went to OT tied at 93-93 and the teams that had been hitting buckets left-and-right found points harder to come by as UCO used an 8-4 advantage in the bonus session to steal the win.

SE got out in front early and would lead by as many as 11 in the first half before a late Broncho push gave UCO the 53-49 halftime advantage.

The Storm would trail by as many as seven in the second half, but eventually closed and used a 7-1 spurt to regain the lead.

SE would lead by three when Jordan Stark hit a three-pointer with 1:07 in the second half to tie the game at 93-93.
