SE Turns Attention to LSC Tournament

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern fought hard down the stretch and was rewarded after earning the No. 3 seed in this weekend’s Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament which will be held May 6-8 at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex, opening play against Angelo State at noon on May 6.

The Savage Storm are coming off a 2-2 split in the season series with Central Oklahoma that allowed them to hang on to third place in the North Division.

SE won six of its last nine heading into the tournament.

The Storm finished the regular season at 25-24 with a 10-10 record in division play.

Southeastern has been paced this season by Erika Bernal at the plate where she boasts a team-best .351 average with 13 doubles and 12 home runs as well as 31 RBI.

She has done well in the third spot in the lineup primarily due to the success of the top two spots in the order in Jeana Keyes and Ryan Allen.

Keyes is third on the team in hitting with a .341 average and leads the team with 37 runs scored.  She also paces the squad in doubled with 14 and has driven in 22 RBI from the lead-off spot.

Allen is second on the team with a .348 average but leads the team and the North Division in long balls with 13 homers.  She also paces SE with 37 RBI.

In the circle, Amanda Tanner has come along in the last two weeks of the season posting a 4-0 record with a 0.23 ERA in 31.0 innings pitched.  She’s fanned 12 hitters and held opponents to a .224 batting average.

Midwestern State is the top seed in the North Division, while UCO is No. 2 and East Central No. 4.  The Mustangs claimed the North crown with a 20-2 record in league play.

West Texas A&M won the LSC South Division with a 14-4 mark to earn the No. 1 seed.  ASU is the No. 2 seed, Texas Woman’s is No. 3 and Tarleton State is No. 4.
