DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern’s 2010 softball season came to an end on Friday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to Central Oklahoma in an elimination game at the Lone Star Conference Tournament at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 26-26 on the year and the squad avoids its first losing season under head coach Ron Faubion.

The top third of the lineup picked up five of SE’s six hits, with Jeana Keyes and Ryan Allen each posting a pair of hits each, while Erika Bernal added another hit and SE’s lone RBI of the day.

Courtney Walters collected the other hit batting in the nine hole and scored on Bernal’s hit.

Amanda Tanner was saddled with the loss in the circle, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and one strikeout.

For the Bronchos, Kelsey Tiger posted the only multi-hit outing, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Kacie Edwards drove in a pair of runs.

Rachael Steverson collected the win for UCO, going 6.1 innings and alloinwg a run on three hits with nine K’s, before handing the ball to Molly Shivers who collected her first save while tossing 0.2 innings and allowing three hits, but striking out one.

Neither team threatened in the first two frames, but the Bronchos broke through in the third inning when Edwards connected on a two-out, two-run single followed by a two-out, RBI single by Tiger to put UCO up 3-0 midway through the third.

SE would strand Walters at third following a one out double in the bottom half of the inning.

Bernal drew a leadoff walk in the fourth inning, but pinch-runner Lyndi Davidson was stranded at second to end the threat.

In the top of the fifth inning, Tanner retired the first two Broncho hitters, but Brittany Weaver singled and Brittany Geter doubled her home from first to push their advantage to 4-0.

Se loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, but were unable to bring home a run.

Neither team threatened in the sixth inning and SE entered the bottom of the seventh still trailing 4-0.

Sharlie Staab lined out to the third baseman to open the inning, but Walter followed by drawing a walk to turn the lineup over.

Keyes single to right center, moving Walters to third, where she would score on the next batter as Allen singled her home with a ball down the left-field line.

Trailing 4-1, Bernal singled to load the bases, but UCO would retire Tanner and Jennifer Morales to end the contest.
