SE Adds Trio of Transfers

DURANT, Okla. – A trio of transfers are set to join the Southeastern softball team for the 2011 season, head coach Ron Faubion has announced.

Lindsey Lacy and Christa Johnson make their way to the Savage Storm after spending two seasons each at North Central Texas and Carl AlbertState, respectively, while Ashley Lovelady heads southeast after spending the 2010 season at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Lovelady, a native of San Diego, Calif., split time in the outfield and behind the plate on her way to earning all-Sooner Athletic Conference honors after leading the Rangers in batting average (.351), at bats (188), runs scored (47), hits (66), doubles (14), home runs (7), total bases (103) and slugging percentage (.548).

Lovelady was also a three-time first-team all-conference pick while at Grossmont High School and Mount Miguel High School, both in California.  In junior college she was named the Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Year.

“We are very excited about her joining our team,” said Faubion, “She adds much needed depth at catcher and will have an excellent chance to start in the outfield.”

Lacy, a native of Sherman, Texas, has spent her time patrolling the middle infield, posting a .352 average in 2010 while playing for NCTC.  She added a pair of doubles and a pair of triples to go with 16 RBI and 20 runs scored while stealing 10 bases.  She batted .398 with three doubles, three triples and a home run as a freshman and was selected to play in the Texas Junior College All-Star Game.

While playing for Tom Bean High School she was a two-time all-state selection and a four-time all-district pick as well as earning all-Texomaland twice.  She was a multi-sport star as well, earning three all-district selections in basketball, two all-district picks in volleyball and qualified four times for the regional track meet.

“She’ll be expected to contend for a starting spot at second base or in the outfield,” said Faubion, “She will also add some much needed speed to the roster.”

Johnson, a native of Morris, Okla., come to the Savage Storm as a corner infielder after posting a .375 batting average with 12 doubles, 61 RBI and 13 home runs in 2010 at Carl Albert State.  She also posted a 17-game hitting streak during the 2010 and hit safely in 39 of the 48 games on the schedule.

She was an all-state selection her senior season at Morris High School, also earning all-region, all-conference and all-district honors, while academically she was on the Superintendant’s Honor Roll and a member of National Honor Society.

“Christa adds power and RBI potential to the lineup,” stated Faubion, “As a corner infielder she led CASC in homers and RBI.”
