SOUTHEASTERN FALLS IN DIVISION ACTION

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern closed to within five points late, but were unable to complete the comeback, falling to Texas A&M-Commerce, 72-62, on Sunday afternoon.

Southeastern will be back in action on Jan. 27 when it faces Cameron on the road in an 8 p.m. matchup in Lawton, Okla.

Darrell Hicks led all scorers with 21 points, including four three pointers, while Jordan Lee joined him in double-digits with 13 points.

Lee completed the double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds, while William Slones was just shy of double-figures with eight boards as SE finished with 50 rebounds on the day.

Mychal Horn finished the day with a game-high seven assists, while adding nine points.

Slones was his usual self on defense, rejecting six shots on the game, while SE finished with 11 blocks as a team.

The Shooting woes continued for the Storm as the team hit 29.2 percent from the field, while A&M-C shot 37.3 percent.

The Lions got on the board first and, with the exception of one early tie, lead the entire first half, holding double-figure advantages until a Horn jumper with two seconds remaining cut the halftime deficit to 35-26.

The Storm carried that momentum into the second half and by the 16:37 mark had used a 9-2 run to close to 37-35.

Two points was as close as SE would get as A&M-C would go back up by double figures before SE’s late run closed the game to five points with 1:36 to play.

The Lions late free throw shooting fashioned the final of 72-62.
