Savage Storm Open GAC Play With UAM, SAU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern women's basketball will open up its home schedule when it welcomes Arkansas-Monticello to Bloomer Sullivan Arena on Nov. 19 at 5:30 pm  for the conference opener and the first half of a Thursday-Saturday series that will see Southern Arkansas in town on Nov. 21 for a 1 p.m. contest.
 
The Savage Storm enter the home portion of its schedule in search of its first win of the season after opening 0-2 at the GAC/MIAA Challenge in Alva, Okla.
 
Despite the lack of a win the team features a trio of double-digit scorers led by Rachel Wallace who is turning in 13.0 ppg while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and 40.0 percent from three point range.
 
Olivia Potter is next up at 11.5 ppg thanks to a 43.8 percent effort from long range, hitting seven of 16 threes over two games.
 
Kaylie Baxter rounds out the trio with 11.0 ppg using four threes and a team-best 6-of-6 free throw shooting effort to reach that mark.
 
Taylor Richards has triggered the offense to the tune of 3.5 assists per game in the early going while adding 4.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg.
 
Wallace leads the way on the glass with 7.0 rebounds per outing, while Potter is next in line with 6.0 with Richards right behind at 5.0 rpg.
 
UAM will open its season when it comes to Durant on Thursday with its only action this season being a 104-39 exhibition loss to Baylor.
 
The teams split the series a year ago with each team winning at home, but the Storm own the series record since the formation of the Great American Conference by a 6-2 margin.
 
SE welcomes the Muleriders on Saturday afternoon as they come into the weekend with a 2-0 mark on the season thanks to a 72-68 win over Philander Smith to open the year followed by a 76-74 road win over Texas A&M-Commerce.
 
They have been led in the early going by Rosa Bryant who is averaging 21.5 ppg and 15.5 rpg, while Shana Holmes is at 17.0 ppg and Tierra Tucker has dished out 6.0 assists per outing.
 
The Storm swept the series last season with a 72-48 road win followed by a 71-56 win at home.  The Storm is 7-1 against SAU in conference games.
