DURANT, Okla. – Missouri Western State (47-12) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Southeastern (53-11) scored five unanswered runs to earn the 5-1 win and advance to the South Central Super Regional May 15-16 against Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas.
Game one of that contest will be at 7 p.m. on May 15, with game two slated for 4:30 p.m. on May 16 with the if necessary game to follow in the best-of-three series.
Kristi Goins paced the Savage Storm, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI, while Bailey Mathes, Erika Bernal and Jennifer Morales each drove in a run.
In the circle, Marjorie Johnson moved to 26-5 with a complete game victory, allowing a run on two hits, both in the first inning, with 12 strikeouts.
Offensively for the Griffons, Mandie Nocita led off the contest with an infield hit and Shannon Pivovar doubled to drive her in accounting for MWSU’s two hits and one RBI.
Allison Jones fell to 26-6 on the season, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits with one K. Jonnelle Belger tossed 0.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits and facing five batters.
