Softball (1998-2001)

Adrienne Stoops set the standard for the softball program in four amazing seasons helping Southeastern Oklahoma State emerge on the national scene.

Born in Tulsa, Okla. on Jan. 16, 1979, she attended Nathan Hale High School where she was an outstanding athlete trying her hand in many sports including softball, basketball and soccer.

Following graduation in 1997, Adrienne enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she began an outstanding four-year career as a catcher for a then three-year old program.

Stoops’ foot work honed in high school on the soccer pitch and basketball courts helped her become an outstanding defensive catcher.

“It seemed she blocked everything, including any runners who tried to score,” coach Ron Faubion said. “It didn’t take long for opposing coaches to forget about stealing bases. A player could get a good break on the pitch and still be out by 3 feet.”

Stoops was even more impressive in the batters box where she set the tone for a Lady Savage lineup that produced four Lone Star Conference North Division championships, three LSC postseason tournament titles and a pair of NCAA Division II South Central Region appearances.

Adrienne earned All-LSC North Division first team honors after hitting for a .360 average including 17 doubles while driving in 45 runs. She would repeat the honor in each of her remaining three seasons.

Stoops capped her career as an NFCA second-team All American after garnering South Central Region first-team honors and was the LSC North Division’s Player of the Year.

In her four years as a Lady Savage, she ranked first in career doubles and set the program standard with 163 career RBIs. She was Southeastern’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 2001.

Adrienne Stoops was a great collegiate softball player. She brought great honor to the university. On February 3, 2007, Southeastern Oklahoma State University honored her with induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
