Kimm Ketelsen was one on a long list of outstanding tennis stars who played for Coach Clarence Dyer’s Southeastern Savages. His accomplishments place him among the best of that elite group.

Born April 8, 1950 at Corvalis, Oregon, Ketelsen grew up in Midland, Texas. He was recruited to Southeastern State University in 1968. His list of achievements is long. He became the first Savage to win the singles championship of the Oklahoma Collegiate Conference four times—1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972. He was named to the NAIA All-American Tennis Team twice—in 1970 and again in 1972.

Ketelsen’s senior year was sensational. He captured the conference singles and double titles and reached the finals of the NAIA national tennis tournament in Kansas City in both singles and doubles. He was named the most outstanding member of the Savage tennis team and he was named to the NAIA All-American team. Ketelsen also became the first Savage net star to be named the university’s “Athlete of the Year”.

Kimm Ketelsen became a tennis professional. He continued to compete and achieved high state and national ranking. He has honored Southeastern State University through his greatness both on and off the court. Southeastern honored Kimm Ketelsen by inducting him into the Athletic Hall of Fame on February 11, 1984.
