DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the 2012-13 season on the road with a Friday matchup with Oklahoma Christian at 6 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
The Savage Storm are coming off an 11-17 season, but did finish it in style with an upset victory over top-seeded and nationally-ranked Arkansas Tech in the Great American Conference Tournament.
SE is opening the season on the road for the sixth-straight season.
The Storm return seven players from last season's team, led by
Bailey Welch who posted 8.5 points per game and dished out a team-high 4.7 assists per game.
Southeastern also returns
Haley Schaefer and Brook Lane in the post along with
Kayle Reaves,
Ronay English,
Natalie Ruud and
Cheree Kiser in the back court.
Those returners will be joined by eight newcomers that come to the Storm as freshmen or sophomores.
The Eagles come into the contest in their first year of transition to division II and already have a pair of games under their belts.
OC picked up an 87-84 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan in the opener and followed with a 98-73 win over Kansas Wesleyan.
Katy O'Steen leads the way with 17.0 ppg over two games as well as posting a team-high 6.0 rebounds per outing.
