SE Tops Harding for First GAC Win

Box Score DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern put three players in double figures and shot 47.9 percent formt he floor for the game en route to its first Great American Conference win of the season, a 72-60 victory over Harding.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 2-6 on the year and 1-3 in conference play heading into a home out of conference matchup with St. Mary's on Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
Bailey Welch turned in 14 points to lead the way, while Ronay English chipped in 11 points and Emily Williams added 10.
 
Welch also dished out seven assists on the contest with a pair of blocks and four steals.
 
Taylor Richards and Williams each pulled down team highs of six rebounds.
 
The Storm held a 47.9 percent to 33.9 percent edge in shooting from the field and hit 81.5 percent from the free throw line.
 
SE held the edge in points off turnovers, points in the paint and points off the bench, while the Bisons held the advantage in second chance points.
 
Southeastern scored first and, despite trailing briefly midway through the half, would lead by as many as eight points before settling on a 34-26 lead at halftime.
 
Harding would never get closer than five points in the second half and the Storm would pull away for a 72-60 win.
