DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will look to build on its come-from-behind win when it jumps back into Great American Conference play with weekend matchups against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
The Savage Storm open the weekend with Southern Arkansas at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 and will finish the weekend at 2 p.m. on Jan. 5.
SE is coming off a 77-73 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Monday in which the Storm erased a 19-point second-half deficit to pull out the win.
Bailey Welch led the way in that contest, scoring all 17 of her points in the second half to spur the rally, while
Ronay English and
Emily Williams joined her in double-figures with 14 and 10, respectively.
Southeastern shot 43.5 percent from the field in that contest on the strength of a 54.6 percent second half effort. That was bolstered by a 10-for-13 mark from long range in the second half.
Welch leads the team with 13.4 ppg on the season, while English joins her in double-figures with 10.9 ppg.
Taylor Richards helps lead the offense with 3.9 assists per game, while
Haley Schaefer paces the team on the boards with 5.4 rebounds per outing.
Southern Arkansas comes to Durant with an 0-9 record on the season following an 86-58 loss to McMurry on Dec. 29.
Katherine McBride leads the offense with 13.7 ppg on the year, and is averaging 14.0 ppg in GAC play.
Tori Nichols is pulling down a team-best 7.8 rebounds per game, while McBride also guides the offense with 3.2 assists per game.
The Cotton Blossoms come into the weekend with a 2-7 mark on the year in the midst of a seven-game losing streak.
UAM is led by Donlicia James who is averaging 11.8 ppg and 7.3 rebounds, while Candace Virgadamo averages just over two assists per contest.
