DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open a two-game road swing with a trip to Ada, Okla., to renew its rivalry with East Central on Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m.
The Savage Storm will then head east to Russellville, Ark., for a 2 p.m. rematch against Arkansas Tech on Jen. 26.
SE is coming off a 77-67 win over Southern Nazarene that saw four players reach double-figures in the win, led by
Emily Williams who dropped 19 points off the bench.
The offense was triggered by
Bailey Welch in that game as she chipped in 12 points and dished out eight assists.
The win lifted the squad to 6-9 overall on the year and 4-5 in Great American Conference play.
For the season, Welch leads a trio of double-digit average scorers with 11.2 points per game, while
Ronay English is chipping in 10.8 and
Haley Schaefer is at 10.2 ppg.
Welch has also moved to the team lead in assists as she continues to climb SE's all-time assists chart as she is dishing out 3.7 assists per game.
Thursday's meeting with ECU is somewhat of a role reversal in recent years as the Tigers sit tied atop the GAC standings with a 7-2 conference record and a 12-3 record overall, while the Storm is currently tied for seventh.
The Tigers are led by a duo of double-digit scorers, led by Dilan Webster at 11.5 ppg and Lindsay McCown at 11.1 ppg.
ECU also features four players that average six-or-more rebounds per outing, while Alex Tucker guides the offense with 3.1 assists per contest.
The Golden Suns enter the contest also part of the four-way tie at the top of the league's standings at 7-2 with a 10-5 record overall.
Saturday will be a rematch between the two teams as ATU came to Durant in the home conference opener and handed SE one of its worst loses of the year.
Jessica Weatherford leads the team with an 18.3 ppg average and is joined in double-figures by Roselis Silva at 12.7 ppg.
Weatherford also leads the team in rebounds at 7.9 per game, while Silva is dishing out 5.0 assists per contest.
