Box Score DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern shook off the rust of nearly a month off, with five players reaching double-digits en route to a 68-59 win over Southern Arkansas on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
The win was the fourth-straight for the Savage Storm as they improve to 8-3 overall on the season and 4-1 in Great American conference play heading into Saturday's 4 p.m. home matchup against Arkansas-Monticello.
Andris Misters paced all scorers with 14 points in the game on the strength of a 4-of-7 night shooting from three-point range.
He was joined in double-figures by
Mateus Oliveira and
Antonio Worthy who each had 12 points, as well as
Chris Roussell and
Travis Timmons who each had 11 points.
Misters and Timmons each dished out four assists as SE tallied 17 helpers as a team.
Southeastern held a 37-to-33 edge on the glass as a team, led by Oliveira's nine rebounds, while Roussell added seven.
Roussell and Timmons each added four steals in the effort as SE forced 17 turnovers, 13 of which were steals.
The Storm held a 19-10 edge in points off turnovers as well as a 26-20 advantage in points in the paint.
Misters drained a pair of threes to open the game with SE in front 6-0, but SAU would fight back and eventually take a 12-11 lead with 12:24 to play in the first half.
The Storm would retake the lead at the 11:42 mark on an
Antonio Worthy layup and would pull ahead by as many as 14 points before settling on a 36-25 lead at halftime.
SE would push its second-half lead to as many as 17 points with 8:59 to play before SAU would rally and cut the advantage to just seven points with 2:57 to play.
A pair of Misters free throws would slow the comeback and the Muleriders would get no closer than seven points as the Storm would hang on for the 68-59 win.
