SE Drops Road Contest at NSU

Box Score TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Southeastern struggled from the field, shooting just 29.2 percent field en route to a disappointing 67-39 loss to Northeastern State on Saturday afternoon in Tahlequah, Okla.

SE dipped to 4-2 on the season heading into a rescheduled fall semester home finale against Dallas Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Haley Schefer was the Savage Storm's lone double-digit scorer as she finished with 12 points, while Emily Williams and Demi Koelzer each added six.

Williams and Koelzer each posted team-highs of five rebounds, while the Storm dished out just two assists in the contest.

NSU struck first and jumped to a 7-0 lead inside the first two minutes, but SE looked to slow the tide with back-to-back buckets by Schaefer and Williams.

That was not the case however, as the Riverhawks reeled off a 20-2 run that left the Storm in a deep hole at 27-6 with 10:10 to play in the half.

SE would get its offense moving and cut the gap to 13 points on a Schaefer layup with 1:42 to go in the first half before NSU pushed back out to a 41-26 lead at halftime.

The second half started out slow for both teams with the two squads scoring a combined 10 points in the first 10 minutes of the half.

The Riverhawks would then use a 17-3 run over the next six minutes to open up a 64-33 advantage with 3:40 to play when LaQuencia Dorsey hit a pair of free throws to get the deficit to 29 points.

Demi Koelzer would score four points in the final two minutes to help fashion the final of 67-39.
