SE Looking to Make Move in GAC Standings

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will set out to use its weekend road trip to face Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas to make up ground in the Great American Conference standings in what is becoming a hotly contested and parity infused race to the conference tournament.
 
The Savage Storm will open the road trip with a 7:30 p.m. meeting against UAM on Feb. 7 and close out the trip with a 4 p.m. contest on Feb. 9 at SAU.
 
SE enters the weekend with an 11-8 record overall and a 7-6 mark in GAC play which is currently tied for fourth.
 
Harding has opened up a three game lead over the second place team in the conference, but a total of seven teams are within two games of the second place spot in the standings.
 
The Storm will be looking to sweep the season series with both schools after opening up the 2013 part of the calendar with a 68-59 win over SAU and following that up with a 67-61 win over UAM.
 
In the win over the Muleriders, five players reached double-figures with Andris Misters posting a game-high 14 points, while Mateus Oliveira and Antonio Worthy each chipped in 12 and the duo of Chris Roussell and Travis Timmons each tallied 11.
 
Oliveira added a game-high nine rebounds, while Timmons and Misters each dished out four assists.
 
Against the Boll Weevils, Roussell paced all scorers with 19 points, while Timmons added 15 and Kohli chipped in 14.
 
Oliveira again led the way on the boards with 13 rebounds, while Timmons dished out seven assists.
 
SE will also be looking to build on the momentum of an 88-87 double-overtime victory over Henderson State in its last trip out.
 
That game featured a pair of Southeastern players reaching the 20-point plateau with Roussell posting a game-high 27 points and Quinton Threadgill turning in 25 points in just his second start.
 
They were joined in double figures by Kohli who finished the night with 18.
 
Threadgill also dished out six assists in the contest, while Oliveira pulled down 10 rebounds.
 
UAM is coming of a pair of home losses and enters the weekend at 11-8 overall and 6-7 in league play.
 
They are led by Kori Forge who is averaging 20.6 ppg, while Michael Maya and Dayton Mickens are each in double-figures as well.
 
AJ Calhoun leads the team on the glass with 8.5 rebounds per game, while Forge is dishing out 2.9 assists per contest.
 
SAU on the other hand is coming off of back-to-back wins that improved their record to 8-11 overall and 4-9 in league play.
 
Nigel Jones leads the scoring for the Muleriders with 10.6 ppg, with two others averaging more than 9.0 ppg.
 
Jones also paces the club in rebounds with 6.5 per outing, while Rodney Hill is dishing out a team-high 2.6 assists per game.
