Emily Williams turned in a double-double, but it was not enough to lift the Savage Storm past Southern Nazarene on Saturday night in a 75-65 loss in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The loss drops the Storm to 13-10 on the year and 10-7 in Great American Conference play heading into a Feb. 24 make-up date with Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark.

Williams finished with her eighth 20-plus point night of the season after dropping 25 points and completing her sixth double-double by hauling in 12 rebounds.

She was joined in double-figures by
Breana Small-Peppers how made her return to the lineup after missing nine games, turning in 13 points.

Haley Schaefer added eight points and also chipped in nine rebounds, while Small-Peppers added seven boards of her own.

The teams were even in points in the paint and second chance points, but SNU held an 8-2 edge in points off turnovers.

The Storm shot 26.7 percent from the field, while SNU finished at 34.7 percent to account for the difference.

SNU scored first and held that advantage, pushing its lead out to double-figures at 27-16 with 8:44 to play in the first half.

That lead would grow as large as 17 points before the Storm trimmed the deficit back to 42-28 at halftime.

SE scored the first six points of the second half to close the gap to 42-34 with 17:36 to play.

After trading bucket the Storm would continue to cut into the deficit, twice closing to within six points, first on a Williams jumper and then on a pair of Williams free throws.

That was as close as the Storm would get, however, as SMNU scored the next four points and eventually handed SE a 75-65 defeat.
