Southeastern Welcomes UAM, SAU

DURANT, Okla. – As Southeastern continues on its second trip through the Great American Conference schedule, the Savage Storm will next be hosting Arkansas-Monticello at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 and Southern Arkansas at 2 p.m. on Feb. 8 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
SE enters the weekend set of games with an 11-7 record overall and an 8-4 mark in league play which puts them in third place in the conference standings.
 
The Storm are led by Emily Williams who is averaging 14.6 ppg on the year and has turned in five 20-point games this season, including three in-a-row and four of the last five outings.
 
She is joined in double figures by Breana Small-Peppers at 11.7 and Haley Schaefer at 11.1.
 
That trio also leads the way on the glass with each of them averaging 7.0 rpg or better.
 
The Storm made the trip to SAU and UAM to open the 2014 new year, opening that road swing with a 67-51 win over the Muleriders and finishing the trip with a 75-61 win over the Cotton Blossoms.
 
It was Schafer who turned in the big game against SAU, finishing with 19 points and 17 rebounds, while Madison Thames turned in a team-high 12 points in the win over UAM.
 
The Blossoms enter at 5-14 overall and 1-12 in league play and are currently in the midst of a 10-game losing skid.
 
The club is paced by a trio of double-digit scorers, led by Jordan Goforth who is averaging 17.7 ppg, while Tamia Grady is at 16.0 and Nikki Mullen is adding 11.4 per outing.
 
SAU comes into the weekend with a 10-9 record overall and a 6-7 mark in GAC action, but have won three of their last four.
 
Chanel Miller leads the way for the club with 15.9 ppg.
