DURANT, Okla. – A rough shooting second half by Southeastern allowed Arkansas-Monticello to pull away and erase a halftime advantage while handing the Savage Storm an 85-61 loss on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The loss is the second-straight for SE and drops them to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in Great American Conference play heading into a 3 p.m. home matchup with Harding on Jan. 10.

It truly was a tale of two halves as the Storm shot 45.2 percent from the field and hit 5-of-10 from three point range in the first half to open up a 37-30 lead at the break.

The tide turned right out of the gate in the second half as the Boll Weevils hit three-straight threes on a 9-2 run to open the second half and turn a 37-30 Storm lead into a 39-39 tie.

Southeastern would hold off the charge until the 15:25 mark when another UAM three would give the visitors their first lead of the second half.

In all, the Weevils would shoot 67.9 percent and hit 7-of-9 from three point range to outscore SE 55-24 in the second half thanks to a 29.6 percent shooting effort from the Storm.

Danny Powell posted 17 points to lead SE, while
Anton Cook was the only other player to join him in double-figures with 11 points.

Taylor Smaller added nine, while
Darius Harris and
Trevor Jackson chipped in seven each.

Smaller dished out five assists to lead the team, which ended up with 19 combined, while Powell added four.

The Storm had as tough night on the glass as well as they were outrebounded 47-to-27 for the game, with Powell's eight board leading the way followed by seven from Jackson.

Jackson posted four blocked shots and Harris added three while the Storm blocked eight shots as a team on the night.
