Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

SE Has Rough Shooting Night at DI Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Southeastern had a tough night shooting from the field and from long range and was unable to keep pace with Division I Tulsa, falling 92-50 on Friday night in Tulsa, Okla.

The game was the lone exhibition contest for the Savage Storm who will open the regular season on Nov.13 in Alva, Okla., against Central Oklahoma in game one of the GAC/MIAA Challenge at 6 p.m.

On Friday the Storm shot 26.5 percent from the field and had an even tougher time form three-point range where they were 5-of-27 for 18.5 percent.

TU on the other hand hit 45.9 percent from the field, and while they only hit 29.4 percent from long range, they made up for it by taking twice as many free throws as Southeastern for the night.

Olivia Potter was the only Storm player to reach double-figures as she finished with 17 on 7-of-17 shooting, hitting 3-of-11 from three after opening with a 1-for-8 mark in the first half.

Katherine Webb was next in line with seven points, while Madison Thames added six.  Kaylie Baxter and Sa'Liesha Hunter chipped in four each.

Baxter hauled in a team-best eight rebounds, while Thames added six and the duo of Webb and Taylor Richards posted four each.

The Storm dished out six assists as a team, with Baxter and Hunter each tossing out two, while as a team they were plagued by 18 turnovers which turned into a 23-10 edge for the Golden Hurricane in points off turnovers.

Southeastern found points hard to come by in the first quarter as Potter hit a jumper and Miranda Schaefer sank a pair of free throws, but TU would take a 16-4 lead into the first break.

The Storm opened the second quarter with back-to-back buckets from Baxter and Potter, and would close to within five points at 18-13 on a Potter three with 7:35 to go in the first half.

The Hurricane would answer and take the quarter 24-16 to mount a 40-20 halftime lead.

SE would match those 16 points in the third quarter, but were outscored 28-16 before Tulsa took the final frame 24-14 to fashion the 92-50 final score.
