SE Falls at HSU to Close GAC Road Swing

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A rough shooting outing left Southeastern on the wrong side of a 75-58 loss at Henderson State on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the two-game conference road swing in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Savage Storm slip to 2-6 overall on the year and 1-3 in Great American Conference play and will next be in action on Dec. 12 with a 1 p.m. road trip to St. Gregory's in Shawnee, Okla.

SE hit 32.4 percent from the floor and uncharacteristically struggled from behind the arc where they hit 2-of-14 shots.

The Storm found its best shooting success at the free throw line where it bucked the trend and was a perfect 13-for-13 on free throws for the game.

Rachel Wallace and Katie Webb each finished with 10 points, with each also turning in a 4-for-4 performance from the charity stripe.

Kaylie Baxter finished with nine, while Madison Thames added eight and Sa'Liesha Hunter chipped in seven.

Southeastern won the turnover battle with just 12 to HSU's 18, but the Reddies hit 10-of-22 from three point range and held a 47-to-38.

SE traded shots early, using a 7-0 run capped by a Wallace layup to open up a 9-5 lead midway through the first quarter.

The lead would grow to five points on a Webb layup with 4:07 to go in the quarter, but HSU would finish the quarter on a 10-0 run to leave the Storm trailing 18-13.

The Reddies would continue their momentum in the second quarter with a 19-12 advantage to leave SE in a 37-25 hole at halftime.

It was a hole the Storm was unable to dig out of as HSU took the third quarter 18-15 and the fourth 20-18 to fashion he 75-58 final.
