Southeastern Tripped up at SEU

AUSTIN, Texas  – Despite getting on the board first, Southeastern was unable to stop a fifth-inning rally by No. 15 St. Edward's as they fell on Wednesday afternoon 8-2 in Austin, Texas.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 7-8 overall on the season heading back into Great American Conference play March 13-014 when it hosts Harding for a three-game series at The Ballpark in Durant.

Colin Sefcik posted a pair of hits and finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Dylan Helms and Jacob Soisson each added a hit while Cody Coats put up the team's only RBI.

Dylan Linke got the start on the hill and allowed one hit while striking out one in 3.0 innings before handing the ball to Keyton Jameson who was hit for four runs on three hits without recording an out, ultimately taking the loss and dipping to 1-1 on the year.

Evan Sanders allowed a pair of runs on a hit in 2.2 innings of work, with Cody Luman facing a pair of batters to end the sixth inning.

Brady Colbert would toss the final 2.0 innings and allow two runs on three hits.

A Coats sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning would score Sefcik and put the Storm on the board first in the contest.

SEU would answer though in the fourth inning with four-straight run producing at bats with the bases loaded to open up a 4-1 lead.

The home team would add two more runs in the fifth to stretch the deficit to 6-1.

Sefcik would score again in the seventh when Chance Burcham reached on a fielder's choice in which the Hilltopper first baseman threw the ball wide of second base trying to initiate a double-play, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

That was as close as it would get though as SEU would add two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to fashion the 8-2 final score.
