SE Stumbles Against Riverhawks

DURANT, Okla.  – Southeastern was unable to finish off a rally in the late innings of Tuesday's game against Northeastern State, ultimately falling 7-4 at The Ballpark in Durant.
 
The Savage Storm drop to 10-14 overall on the season heading into a weekend Great American Conference series against Southern Nazarene March 27-28 at The Ballpark in Durant.
 
Conner Koepp posted a pair of hits, while Kaleb Thomas, Chance Burcham, Jacob Soisson and Brandon Grimsley each added one.
 
Grimsley drove in a pair of runs on his hit, while Burcham and Koepp added an RBI each.
 
Mathew Benedict got the start and was hit with the loss after tossing 4.0 innings and allowing four runs, two earned, on three hits with one strikeout.
 
Evan Sanders pitched 3.1 innings in relief and allowed a pair of runs, one earned, on one hit with three K's.
 
Brady Colbert finished the contest and was hit with a run on three hits with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched.
 
SE took the early lead on a Burcham, RBi single that scored Thomas in the bottom of the first inning.
 
The Riverhawks answered though with a pair of runs in the second and third innings each and took a 5-1 lead with another run in the fifth.
 
The Storm mounted a rally in the sixth with back-to-back RBI doubles from Grimsley and Koepp to combine for three runs batted in to close the gap to 5-4.
 
SE would nearly tie the game in the seventh, but Dylan Helms was called out at the plate for the third out of the inning.
 
NSU would add a run in the eighth and another in the ninth to stretch its lead to 7-4 which would be the final score.
