SE Rallies to Reach Final Day at GAC Tourney

ENID, Okla. – Southeastern rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to pick up a 4-3 win over Harding and stay alive at the Great American Conference Tournament on Monday afternoon in Enid, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 19-24 on the season heading into a noon contest on Tuesday against either Southern Arkansas or Henderson State depending on the outcome of the late game on Monday.  Regardless of the outcome SE will have to win a pair of games Tuesday to capture a GAC championship.

Brayon Colley provided the go ahead run in his only plate appearance after coming in as a defensive sub in the top of the seventh. Flying out to right field but doing so deep enough to score Cody Coats from third for what would hold to be the game winning run.

The game started off rough for the Storm with the first inning ending in a double play with a runner thrown out at the plate followed by a pair of three-up, three down innings while the Bisons score a run in the second and added two more in the third to open up a 3-0 lead.

SE finally found its answer in the fifth with Dylan Helms connecting on a two-out single that scored Collin Sefcik from second to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Jacob Soisson would take care of the rest in the bottom of the sixth, taking advantage of a Corban Taylor walk and connecting on a game-tying, two-run homer to left center to even the game at 3-3.

Brady Colbert collected the win to move to 6-3 on the year after coming in in the top of the sixth inning and scattering four hits over 3.2 innings of work with three strikeouts.

Evan Sanders got the start but lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with three K's while surrendering six walks.

Cody Luman filled the gap with his second-longest outing of the season after tossing 2.2 innings and allowing three hits while striking out two.

Helms and Taylor each had a pair of hits on the game, while Kaleb Thomas, Coats and Soisson added one each.

Soisson's two RBI led the way for the Storm, while Helm and Colley each added one.
