Southeastern Falls Hard at ECU

ADA, Okla. – Nothing went right for Southeastern in the second half as rival East Central pulled away over the game's final 20 minutes to hand the Savage Storm a 94-57 defeat on Monday afternoon in Ada, Okla.

The loss dips SE to 5-10 overall on the year and 3-6 in Great American Conference play heading into a 7:30 p.m. matchup with Southwestern Oklahoma State on Jan. 20 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The Storm shot 36.4 percent for the game, but that number suffered in the second half where they hit 27.3 percent and were unable to match the Tigers who hit 51.6 percent for the game, going 50 percent or better in both halves.

Anton Cook was the leading scorer for SE with 14 points on four threes, while Sami Bzai added nine and Tyler Lonzie chipped in eight.

Cook also led the way on the boards with five rebounds along with Lonzie, while Bzai picked up four.

The game was even out of the gate, with the Storm leading early by as many as five points, going up 24-19 on a Marti Fonolla three pointer at the 10:25 mark.

The pace slowed for SE and quickened for the Tigers at that point who finished out the first half by outscoring the Storm 23-12 to take a 42-36 lead at the break.

ECU opened the second half on a 19-2 run to open up a 61-38 lead and the Storm would never recover, trailing by as many as 40 points before settling on a 94-57 final score.
