DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern scratched away at an early 7-0 deficit, but was unable to finish off the rally on Saturday afternoon in a 7-5 loss to No. 13 Angelo State at The Ballpark in Durant.

The loss in the series rubber-match drops the Storm to 4-5 overall on the season heading into a Tuesday matchup at Rogers State in Claremore, Okla., at 2 p.m.

SE outhit the Rams 10-to-9, led by
Kaleb Thomas,
Brandon Grimsley and
Tim Hunter who each put up a pair of hits, while
Dylan Helms,
Greg Husnander,
Corban Taylor and
Logan Terwilliger added one each.

Helms, Thomas and Terwilliger each added an RBI.

It was a tale of two completely different pitching outing for the Storm as
Dylan Linke got the start and the loss after being shown an early exit after just two-third of an inning after ASU put up seven runs, three earned, on five hits. He did record strikeouts on both outs he recorded.

Matt Benedict on the other hand came on in relief in the first inning and proceeded to mow through the Ram lineup, holding them scoreless and allowing just four hits while striking out six.

The Rams opened up the game with seven runs in the top of the first inning using a three-run homer and taking advantage of an error that kept the inning alive.

Helms would open the bottom of the first with a leadoff homer in an attempt to start the climb back.

Terwilliger would drive in Hunter on a sac fly in the second to cut the gap to 7-2.

Grimsley and Thomas would each score on passed balls in the third inning as SE closed to 7-4.

A Thomas single in the fourth continued the scoring trend and plated Taylor to get to 7-5.

The Storm would get a runner to third and the tying run on first in the bottom of the ninth inning, but were unable to score.
