SE Dominant in 73-44 Win over NWOSU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern scored the first 18 points of the game and never looked back en route to a dominating 73-44 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The win is the team's eighth in-a-row and lifts them to 12-11 overall on the year and 10-7 in Great American Conference play which moves them into a tie for fourth in the league standings with Southern Arkansas.

The Storm will face off with rival East Central on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

SE was dominant in the first quarter, holding the Rangers scoreless for the first 6:12 of the game while the defense held them to an 0-for-19 shooting effort from the floor that stretched until the early part of the second quarter.

Kaylie Baxter was the only player to reach double-figures for the Storm, posting 21 points on an 8-of-13 shooting outing that included three three-point buckets.

Otherwise the scoring was spread out with Taylor Richards and Rachel Wallace each adding nine points, while Emem David and Demi Koelzer turned in eight apiece.

Katie Webb and Miranda Schaefer both came off the bench with five points.

Richards also dished out seven assists on the game to trigger the offense which tallied 16 as a team.

David hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds and Baxter just missed a double-double with nine boards.

Three others pulled down five boards and every player who saw the floor recorded a rebound as the Storm owned a 56-to-47 edge on the glass.

NWOSU picked up its first field goal at the 7:28 mark of the second quarter after SE had opened up a 26 point lead which would be the margin at the break as the Storm took a 40-14 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Southeastern opened up its largest lead of the game when Baxter connected on a layup at the 3:49 mark of the third quarter to go up 54-21 and the difference after three quarters with 60-30.

The Storm eased off in the fourth quarter as the Rangers outscored SE 14-13 in the final frame to make the final score 74-44.
