TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Despite scoring first in both games, Southeastern found itself on the short end of both ends of its Saturday double-header at Northeastern State, falling in the opener 8-3 and the nightcap 5-4.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 2-3 overall on the season heading into the home opener on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Ballpark in Durant against Oklahoma Christian.

In the opener,
Greg Husnander scored in the top of the third when
Bryson Allen reached on an error, followed by a two-run single by
Nolan Fanning which plated Allen and
Kaleb Thomas to take an early 3-0 lead.

NSU answered with five runs in the bottom of the third before adding another in the fourth and two more in the fifth to pull away with an 8-3 win.

Fanning posted a 3-for-3 outing at the plate with a pair of RBI, as the Storm collected eight hits as a team.

Keyton Jameson was saddled with the loss after tossing 2.0 innings and getting hit for four runs, two of which were earned, on two hits with two strikeouts.

Mike Wade tossed 1.1 innings in relief and allowed a pair of runs, one earned, on two hits, followed by a third of an inning from
Bryce Clemons.

Cody Luman followed with 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with a pair of K's before Matt Benedict finished off the game with 1.0 innings allowing a hit and striking out two.

Dylan Helms solo homer in the first put SE up early in game two.

Connor Counce singled home Husnander in the fourth, followed by a bases loaded walk drawn by
Logan Terwilliger to take a 3-0 lead.

NSU got a run back in the bottom of the fourth, but a Husnander solo shot would push the lead out to 4-1 midway through the fifth inning.

Unfortunately, the Riverhawks would pick up four runs in the bottom of the fifth and SE was not able to push a run across despite getting a runner into scoring position in the sixth, falling 5-4.

Husnander and Counce posted a pair of hits each along with an RBI apiece, with Helms and Allen each picking up one hit. Helms and Terwilliger would each pick up an RBI as well.

Scott Richards got the start and tossed 4.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

Michael Brinska was hit with the loss after facing three batters without recording an out and allowing two runs on a hit with a pair of walks.

Scott Brinkley tossed two-third of an inning in relief allowing a hit, with Clemons finishing off the game with an inning pitched and one K.
