Storm Take Series Finale Over OBU

DURANT, Okla. – Mike Wade struck out seven and allowed one unearned run in eight innings of work to lead Southeastern to a 10-4 win in the rubber match of its series with Ouachita Baptist on Monday afternoon at The Ballpark in Durant.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 11-13 overall and 6-6 in Great American Conference play.

SE will be on the road Tuesday for a double-header in Edmond, Okla., against Central Oklahoma beginning at noon.

Wade turned in his longest outing of the season, scattering five hits over eight innings while striking out seven.

Keyton Jameson and Matt Benedict combined to toss the final innings, allowing three runs on a hit.

Corban Taylor led the offense with a 3-for-4 outing at the plate, with Logan Terwilliger adding a pair of hits as the Storm had 10 as a team.

Brandon Grimsley drove in three runs on a home run and a sac fly, while Greg Husnander and Terwilliger each plated two.

OBU took the lead in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of an error with two outs to score an unearned run.

SE answered in the bottom half of the second inning however with a two-run Terwilliger double which was followed by a bunt single on the squeeze attempt by Tim Hunter which scored Connor Counce for a 3-1 lead.

Grimsley connected on a two-run homer in the third to stretch the lead to 5-1.

He would add the next run on a sac fly in the sixth.

Husnander would add a two-run single and Taylor would drive in another later in the sixth to jump to a 9-1 lead.

Luke Thomas pushed the lead to 10-1 with a sac fly in the seventh.

The Tigers would get three runs off of SE relief pitchers in the ninth inning, but the Storm took advantage of a baserunning error to being the threat to an end and pick up the 10-4 win.
