RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern opened its series at No. 4 Arkansas Tech with a 2-0 victory and finished the day with a double-header split after falling in game two by the same 2-0 score on Friday afternoon in Russellville, Ark.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 20-10 overall and 16-4 in Great American Conference play heading into the final two games of the series slated for a noon start on Saturday.

In the opener
Jessica Seay scattered six hits over 6.1 innings pitched earning her third save of the year after leaving the circle in the fourth inning and returning to finish the contest.

She struck out one and combined with
Emily Cudd and
Destiny Riddle who each faced one batter and retired that batter to hand the Golden Suns a shutout.

Jessica Simmons turned in a 3-for-4 outing with an RBI, while
Laramie Beal added a pair of hits.

Keeshia Thompson and
Conner Harmon each had a hit, with Harmon driving in the team's other run.

The game was scoreless into the fifth when Thompson connected on a one-out single and moved to second on a Harmon sac bunt.

She scored one batter later on a Simmons RBI single down the right field line.
Â
The Storm added an insurance run in the top of the seventh with Harmon singling home
Mykaela Wallace who was hit by a pitch to open the inning and moved to second on a Thompson sac bunt.

Seay would retire the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the 2-0 win.

In game two ATU took a 1-0 lead with a sac fly in the first and got another sac fly in the third to open up a 2-0 lead which was all the runs needed as the Golden Suns held on for a 2-0 win.

Cudd got the start and tossed a complete game, allowing a pair of runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Beal picked up a pair of hits while Simmons chipped in one.
