ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
Dylan Linke and
Brady Colbert combined to allow one unearned run over 10 innings as Southeastern opened its series at Henderson State with a 2-1 extra-inning victory on Friday night in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Â
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 8-11 on the year and 3-4 in Great American Conference play with a double-header to finish the series slated for Saturday at noon.
Â
Linke got the start and tossed 7.0 innings, his second longest outing of the season, allowing one unearned run and striking out five while scattering five hits.
Â
Colbert came on in relief and picked up his second win of the year by tossing 3.0 scoreless innings while scattering a pair of hits and striking out six of the 12 batters he faced.
Â
The Storm was out-hit 7-to-6, with
Bryson Allen turning in the only two-hit performance of the day for SE, while four others had one hit each.
Â
Kaleb Thomas and
Logan Terwilliger drove in the only two runs.
Â
Southeastern opened up a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, with
Corban Taylor drawing a one out walk before stealing second with two outs and scoring on a Terwilliger RBI single.
Â
Each team would push runners to second base or further just once over the next four innings, with the Reddies breaking through in the bottom of the seventh as Alan Hall plated Alex Morgan with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.
Â
Neither team would really threaten until the 10
th inning when
Dylan Helms drew a two-out walk and moved to second on a wild pitch.
Â
At that point
Kaleb Thomas would connect on an RBI single to put the Storm up 2-1.
Â
HSU would get two runners on through a walk and a HBP with two outs, but Colbert would strikeout the Reddie five-hole hitter to end the game and pick up the 2-1 win.
