MONTICELLO, Ark. – Southeastern split a pair of pitcher's duels on Saturday afternoon in Monticello, Ark., taking the series opener 3-1 before dropping the nightcap 2-1.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 28-20 overall and 24-14 in Great American Conference play and locks SE into0t he number three seed in next week's GAC Postseason tournament in Bentonville, Ark.

The series will conclude with a double-header on Sunday afternoon beginning at noon in Monticello, Ark.

Emily Cudd got the win in the opener for her 13
th of the year after tossing 6.1 innings without allowing a run on five hits with one strikeout.

Jessica Seay faced five batters and recorded two-third of an inning, allowing a run on a hit with a strikeout.

Jessica Simmons,
Sydney Kramer and
Laramie Beal collected all of the Storm's three hits, with
Destiny Riddle and Beal driving in two of the team's three runs.

A Beal RBI single scored Kramer in the fourth for the team's first run and they added two more when Riddle laid down a squeeze bunt to score
Conner Harmon, but an error on the play also allowed Simmons to come home for a 3-0 lead.

UAM would get a solo home in the top of the seventh, but the Storm would hold on for the 3-1 win.

The nightcap was even closer as a
Mykaela Wallace homer put SE up 1-0 in the third, but the Cotton Blossoms answered with a tying run in the bottom half of the inning.

A sixth inning solo homer by UAM would be the difference in the 2-1 loss.

Wallace went 3-for-3 in the game with her solo homer as the Storm collected nine hits but only mustered one run while stranding six base runners.

Seay tossed 4.1 innings and allowed a run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts, but it was Cudd who would take the loss after tossing 1.2 innings and allowing the other run on one hit with one K.
