Southeastern Drops Road Contest at HU

SEARCY, Ark. – Despite matching Harding's shooting effort, Southeastern was unable to hold onto a 10-point second half lead en route to an 80-72 loss on Saturday afternoon in Searcy, Ark.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 4-8 overall and 0-6 in Great American Conference play.

Kevin Buckingham led SE with 23 points on 8-15 shooting and a 5-of-9 effort from behind the arc.

Anton Cook added 16 points with a pair of threes, while Jett Jobe turned in 13 points with three threes.

Bobby Johnson came off the bench with 10 to round out the double-digit scorers.

Cook led the way with seven assists, while on the glass Buckingham wrapped up a double-double with 10 boards.

Both teams shot 48 percent from the field and the Storm hit 12-of-24 on threes, but could not offset a 14 three effort by HU alongside a 31-8 disadvantage in points off turnovers.

Southeastern scored first to open the game and trailed for just 29 seconds of the half while leading by as many as 10 points and holding a 45-39 edge at the break.

The lead stretched back to 10 points twice on buckets by Tyler Lonzie early in the second half, but the Bisons would whittle the Storm advantage away, ultimately taking the lead at the 5:14 mark.

A Cook free throw with 3:39 to play would knot the game at 68-68 but HU would finish on a 12-4 run to hand SE an 80-72 loss.
