Fourth-Quarter Cold Spell Leads to Loss

SEARCY, Ark. – A fourth-quarter meltdown saw a 22 point lead disappear over the final 10 minutes of the game in a 72-69 loss at Harding on Saturday afternoon in Searcy, Ark.

The Savage Storm drop to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in Great American Conference play.

Olivia Potter led all scorers with 22 points on the strength of six threes, while Rachel Wallace added 12 points.

Sa'Liesha Hunter added nine points and dished out a game-high nine assists, while Katie Webb added eight points.

The Storm shot 51.4 percent in the first half, including a 10-of-20 effort from behind the arc, but were stung in the second and hit just 20.0 percent from the field and went just 1-of-15 from long range.

SE jumped to a 21-17 lead after one quarter, but took control of the game in the second, pushing out to a 50-28 lead at the break thanks to a 29-11 edge in the second quarter alone.

The second half was nearly the opposite as the teams played to a 15-15 tie in the third quarter and Southeastern led 65-43 heading to the final frame where it was outscored 29-4 which left it on the wrong end of a 72-69 loss.
