Southeastern Falls Hard in Rivalry Matchup

ADA, Okla. – Nothing went right for Southeastern on Monday night as it shot 36.8 percent from the field while East Central was shot 60.3 percent and hit 16 threes as the Savage Storm fell in the rivalry matchup 101-64 in Ada, Okla.

The loss drops SE to 9-15 overall and 5-13 in Great American Conference play.

Tyler Lonzie finished as the leading scorer for the Storm after putting up 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Anton Cook added 15 and Gianpalo Riccio put up 10.

Jett Jobe added a team-best four assists.

Lonzie also led the way on the glass with six rebounds, while Riccio added five.

Lonzie opened the contest with the first bucket, but the Storm would go cold from the field, connecting on three free throws over the next nine minutes before Jett Jobe connected on a jumper at the 10:44 mark and ending what had been a 23-5 run for the Tigers over the first 10 minutes of the game.

The Storm would narrow the deficit back to 13 points at the 7:29 mark on a Lonzie dunk, but a 14-5 run by the home team would push the lead back out to 22 points with 3:31 to play and SE would go on to trail 56-32 at the half.

The second half picked up where the first left off as SE found itself on the wrong end of a 17-2 run out of the gate to trail 73-34 at the 12:57 mark of the half.

SE put together its best run of the second half as buckets by Cook and Lonzie bookended a Bobby Johnson three to use a 7-0 run to trim a 42 point deficit back down to 89-54 with 4:50 to play.

However, that would be as close as they would get as the deficit would extend back beyond 40 points before settling on a 101-64 final score.
