Second-Half Rally Lifts SE to Win at NWOSU

ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern put together an 18-0 run in the fourth quarter to rally from a double-digit halftime deficit and pull away from Alva, Okla., with a 76-67 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 13-7 overall and 11-5 in Great American Conference play and will return home to host Oklahoma Baptist at 1 p.m. on Feb. 11 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Katie Webb turned in a career-high 26 points on 7-of-9 shooting with an 11-of-12 effort at the free throw line.

Olivia Potter would splash home five threes and finish the night with 17 points, while Rachel Wallace added nine, Tracy Johnson chipped in eight and Ariannah Kemp turned in seven.

Potter and Wallace each dished out a team-best five assists as the Storm shot 42.1 percent from the field and sank 10 threes as a team while hitting 18-of-20 free throw attempts.

Kemp would lead the way on the glass with nine rebounds, while Webb finished with eight, with SE holding a 40-to-36 edge as a team.

SE used a 12-0 run in the first to power out to a 23-12 lead with 1:15 to play in first quarter, but the Rangers would get the last five points and SE would take a 23-17 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The Storm momentum did not carry into the second quarter as NWOSU reeled off a 28-10 frame to take a 45-33 lead at the break.

SE opened the second half with the first six points and would reel off a big quarter of its own, outscoring the Rangers 19-8 over the 10 minutes, capped by a Kemp bucket with 35 seconds to go to close the gap to 53-53 heading to the final frame.

The Storm found itself back in a seven-point hole with 5:15 to play, but a pair of Potter free throws would kick off an 18-0 run, including a Potter three at the 2:14 mark to put the Storm in front for good which was followed a possession later by a Wallace three to extend the lead to two possession en route to the 76-67 win.
