DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern found itself in a pair of pitcher's duels on Saturday, getting back in the win column with a 1-0 victory over Henderson State in game one, but falling by the same 1-0 score in the nightcap at The Ballpark in Durant.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 4-16-1 overall on the season with the finale set for 12:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The win also moves head coach
Mike Metheny one win closer to setting the NCAA Division II record for coaching victories as his record is now 1,312, just two away from tying the record of 1,314 and three from breaking it.

Mike Wade got the start and collected his second win of the year in the opener after tossing 6.0 innings and scattering six hits and striking out two.

Brandon Wolski would come on to throw the final three innings and collect his second save of the year after allowing four hits and striking out three.

The Storm collected just two hits in the contest with
Jake Perez and
Luke Thomas each posting singles.

Thomas collected his hit in the bottom of the sixth to lead off and moved to second when
Travis Spinney laid down a sacrifice bunt but was safe thanks to an error by HSU's first baseman.

Cade Clay would then follow with a sac bunt to move runners to second and third before a
Hunter Harrison groundout to second would score the lone run of the game as Thomas came in from third to make the score 1-0.

The nightcap saw both pitcher's go the distance , with
Scott Richards taking the loss despite allowing a run on two hits with three strikeouts.

Brett Akins and
Jett Swigart each collected hits and the Storm held a 3-to-2 edge in total hits.
