Southeastern Opens GAC Tourney With ECU

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Fourth-seeded Southeastern opens play in the 2017 Great American Conference Tournament when it travels to Bartlesville, Okla., to square off with fifth-seeded East Central in a rivalry rubber match at noon on March 3 at the Bruin Fieldhouse.
 
The Savage Storm enter the tournament with a 17-9 record and finished the conference slate at 15-7.
 
SE also boasts a pair of second team All-GAC selections in Olivia Potter and Katie Webb.
 
Webb led the team in scoring with 13.7 ppg and was ranked ninth in the conference while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from long range. She is also ranked sixth in the GAC in rebounding with 7.5 rpg, and is one of just three players to rank in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding in the conference.
 
Potter was second on the team in scoring behind Webb and finished the regular season with 12.8 ppg while shooting 38.0 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from three-point range, hitting 75 threes on the year. During the 2016-17 season she became the program's 12th 1,000 point scorer and has 1,045 points heading into the GAC tournament, which is good for sixth on the all-time scoring list. She is tied for the lead in the GAC with 2.9 three-point field goals made per game and is 11th in percentage.

Overall the Storm averaged 71.6 ppg as a team and holds an average win margin of plus-3.0 points per contest.
 
Additionally, SE outrebounds its opponents 41.9-to-40.5 per outing, while on offense they are outshooting foes 39.4 percent-to-37.9 percent from the floor while holding opposing teams to 28.1 percent shooting from three point range on the year.
 
Southeastern picked up a 57-51 win in Bloomer Sullivan Arena, but was upended in Ada, Okla, by a 66-59 margin, making Friday's contest a true rubber match.
 
ECU comes into the tournament with a 13-13 overall record and a 12-10 conference mark, but put together a seven-game winning streak before falling to top-seeded Harding in the regular season finale.
 
Devon Branch paces the Tiger offense with 14.4 ppg while shooting 37.1 percent form beyond the arc, while Whitney Stotler is in double-figures as well with 11.3.
 
ECU is averaging 61.0 ppg, but is minus-2.4 ppg in scoring margin.
 
The Tigers are being outrebounded by 4.8 rebounds per contest, with Jalyn Jackson leading the effort with 7.1 per game.
