DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's woes continued as a rally in game one never materialized, while forcing extras in game two was unable to help get back in the win column as it fell to East Central on Wednesday afternoon by scores of 3-2 and 6-4 at the Southeastern Softball Field
Â
The losses drop the Savage Storm to 16-28 overall on the year and 10-24 in Great American Conference play.
Â
In the opener
Destiny Riddle collected both of SE's hits and drove in both of its runs as well.
Â
In the circle it was
Emily Cudd who got the start and took the loss after allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.
Â
Riddle would face two batters, earning a strikeout and a groundout.
Â
Symphoni Shomo earned a leadoff walk for the Storm and after stealing second and third would score on a Riddle squeeze bunt for a 1-0 lead.
Â
However, the Tigers would answer with a run in the third and two more in the fourth to gain a 3-1 edge.
Â
Riddle would strike again, this time with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth, but that was as close as the Storm would get in the 3-2 loss.
Â
In the finale, Shomo,
Kennedy Salyers,
Keeshia Thompson,
Conner Harmon and
Mykaela Wallace each logged a hit.
Â
Wallace and Harmon would register an RBI each.
Â
Riddle would get the start and toss 8.2 innings while allowing six runs, five earned, on 12 hits with a strikeout.
Â
Cudd would record a third of an inning and face three batters.
Â
Shomo on the base paths would get SE on the board first in this game as well after stealing third and scoring on a catcher overthrow to take a 1-0 lead.
Â
ECU answered with a run in the third, but an RBI single by
Conner Harmon as well as Thompson scoring on a Wallace groundout would put SE back in front 3-1 after four innings.
Â
The Tigers would get a run in the fifth and tack on two more in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead, but that set up Wallace who homered in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
Â
Neither team was able to bring in a run until the top of the ninth when ECU scored twice and SE was unable to answer, falling 6-4.
