SE Swept at SAU in Season Finale

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern saw its 2017 season come to an end with a pair of road losses to Southern Arkansas, falling 20-9 before finishing the series with a 9-1 loss in Magnolia, Ark.

The Savage Storm wrap the season with an 18-34 record overall and a 12-30 mark in Great American Conference play.

Destiny Riddle, Conner Harmon and Mykaela Wallace each turned in two hits, while Symphoni Shomo, Emily Cudd and Ashton Adkins had one apiece.

Adkins led the way with three RBI, while Riddle and Wallace drove in two each with Shomo and Harmon each posting one RBI.

Cudd got the start and took the loss after getting tagged for 18 runs, 15 earned, on 18 hits in 4.2 innings pitched.

Riddle recorded two-third of an inning in relief and allowed two hits with Kennedy Salyers tossing one-third of an inning and allowing two runs on one hit.

SAU took an early 3-0 lead in the first, but the Storm had an answer.

An Adkins double would plate three runs to knot the game in the top of the second and was followed by an RBI single by Shomo to plate Adkins for a 4-3 lead.

However, the Muleriders would score three in the bottom of the second to regain the lead for good at 6-4.

A Harmon double in the third would bring home a run to make it 6-5, but a five-run third for SAU would open up the deficit to 11-5.

Riddle would connect on a two-run double in the fourth and Wallace would drive in a pair in the sixth to close the gap to 11-9, but a nine-run sixth inning by the Muleriders would bring the game to an early end with SE on the wrong end of a 20-9 score.

In the finale, Shomo turned in a pair of hits and, while four others had one each.

Riddle got the start and tossed a complete game while allowing nine runs on 11 hits with a strikeout.

A Harmon double in the top of the third would put SE on the board first with a 1-0 lead, but that advantage would not last long as a three-run third for SAU would put the home team in front 3-2.

The Muleriders would add two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to stretch its lead to 9-1 and invoke the run rule.
