LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –
Kevin Buckingham went off for 33 points and Southeastern hit 18 threes, forcing overtime, but were unable to knock off Division I Arkansas-Little Rock in an exhibition contest on Thursday night in Little Rock, Ark.

The contest is the final warm up for the Savage Storm who open the season proper on Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena against Arlington Baptist.

As a team Se hit 18-of-47 three-point shots on the night and shot 42.3 percent from the floor overall while holding a 42-to-40 edge on the glass, including an 18-8 edge on the offensive glass.

Buckingham finished the night shooting 11-of-20 from the floor and 5-of-11 from three-point range to put up 33 points. He completed a double-double with 11 rebounds

Three others reached double figures, with
Jett Jobe and
Kayo Goncalves each draining four threes and turning in 12 points, while
Kellen Manek posted 11 points.

DJ Henderson just missed double-digits with nine points on a trio of threes.

Al Ervin led the team with five assists, while
Adam Dworsky added four and the Storm finished with 22 as a team.

The Trojans would hold the early advantage in the first half, going up as much as 7-2 and would lead 19-17 with 11:59 to go in the first half.

That was when the Storm caught fire, first with a Buckingham three to go ahead and trigger a 12-0 run that included a pair of Goncalves threes to push the lead out to 29-19 with 9:48 to go in the half.

SE would maintain the lead through the rest of the half, despite UALR closing the deficit all the way down to 37-34 with 1:18 to go, but a pair of Buckingham free throws with 58 seconds left in the half to make the Storm lead at the break 39-34.

Southeastern maintained the lead early in the second half, but the Trojans would slowly close in and take a 53-52 lead with 14:03 to go in the second half.

Todd Dawkins three would answer and regain the lead and trigger an 11-2 run to push the SE edge back out to 63-55 with 11:04 to go in regulation.

The Storm would lead by as many as nine points in the second half, doing so on a
Myles Nesbitt layup with 3:44 to go in the half.

UALR would close the gap and then finish the second half with the final six points to knot the score at 79-79 at the end of regulation.

The Trojans scored the first five points of overtime and the Storm were unable to bounce back.

SE closed the gap to 84-82, but UALR reeled off an 11-1 run to take a 98-86 lead with 59 seconds to go in the overtime session.

A Jobe three would bring the run to an end, and the Storm would hit two more threes over the final minute to close the final tally to 101-92.
