Southeastern Downs 8th-Ranked ESU

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Southeastern closed out the Airhogs Division II Tournament with its second-straight win, topping No. 8 Emporia State 7-2 on Sunday afternoon in Grand Prairie, Texas.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 2-2 on the season.
 
Drew Bolin, Brett Akins, Joseph Cerda and Cade Clay each logged three hits, while Jett Swigart and Travis Spinney each added two.
 
Easton Elliott added a hit and the Storm tallied 17 hits across from the Hornet's seven.
 
Cerda and Swigart each drove in a pair of runs, with Austin Ferguson, Akins, and Spinney each driving in one.
 
Collin Jameson got the start and tossed 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
 
Dallas Guerrero came on in relief and threw 1.1 innings and allowed no runs on two hits while striking out three.
 
Jonny Mireles was next up out of the bullpen and tossed 1.1 hitless innings to earn the win.
 
Jake Patterson tossed 0.2 innings before handing the ball to Bridger Dauenhauer who recorded a K in an inning pitched
 
SE got on the board in the top of the second with an RBI groundout by Swigart who drove in Cerda followed by a Spinney RBI single to bring in Clay for a 2-0 lead.
 
ESU picked up a pair of runs on a hit in the bottom of the second to knot the game at 2-2.
 
Bolin would double to lead off the top of the third for the Storm and score on a Ferguson groundout to take a 3-2 lead.
 
Later in the inning Akins singled and scored on a Cerda single and Cerda would come home three batters later on a Swigart fielder's choice, mounting as 5-2 lead midway through the third.
 
SE would take advantage of another Bolin double in the fourth when Cerda singled him home for a 6-2 lead.
