SE Swept in Twinbill to Split Series

DURANT, Okla. – After sweeping day one of its series with Harding on Friday, Southeastern saw the tables turn on Saturday, dropping both ends of the double-header 5-4 and 3-1 to finish the series 2-2 for the weekend.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 23-14 overall and 17-7 in Great American Conference play.

In game one, Elexis Watson led the way with a pair of hits, while Destiny Riddle, Sydnee Hinkle, Kennedy Salyers, and Brittany Chatellier added one apiece.

Riddle, Karsyn Brigance, and Salyers each added an RBI.

Kelsey Meeks took the loss after allowing five runs, three earned, on 10 hits with a pair of strikeouts.

HU took an early 1-0 lead in the first, taking advantage of an SE error.

The Storm answered in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double by Salyers to knot the game at 1-1.

The Bisons took advantage of another SE error and took a 2-1 lead midway through the fourth.

Southeastern again answered to tie the game on a Brigance sacrifice fly to score Keeshia Thompson and make the score 2-2.

The Storm then came back in the fifth inning and took its first lead of the game, taking advantage of back-to-back singles from Chatellier and Watson, first taking the lead on a Riddle RBI single and making it 4-2 after five innings.

However, HU would get the last word with an RBI double followed by a two-run homer to take a 5-4 lead which would hold up to be the final score.

The Bisons struck first in game two with an RBI single in the top half of the inning, but the Storm had an answer in the bottom half with a two-out RBI single from Thompson to score Watson and knot the score at 1-1.

HU followed by taking the lead with an RBI double in the second and stretching it to 3-1 with a solo homer in the top of the third.

No one would get on the board after the third inning as Harding would take the contest 3-1.

Thompson collected a pair of hits and drove in a run, while Watson and Hinkle each added a hit.

Emily Cudd got the start in the circle and took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.

Riddle tossed 3.1 innings in relief and allowed a run on four hits with a K before handing the ball to Meeks to toss the final 2.0 innings without allowing a run or a hit.
