DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern picked up a 9-1 run rule victory in the opener on Saturday to secure a series win, but dropped the finale against Southern Nazarene 11-8 at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 28-18 overall on the year and 22-11 in Great American Conference play.

In the opener,
Symphoni Shomo posted a 3-for-4 effort at the plate, while
Elexis Watson,
Destiny Riddle, and
Kennedy Salyers added two hits each.
Â
Watson, Riddle, and
Keeshia Thompson each posted two RBI, while
Augusta Duty and
Karsyn Brigance drove in one each.
Â
Kelsey Meeks tossed a complete game, allowing a run on four hits in five innings of work with four strikeouts.

Thompson put SE on the board with a squeeze bunt to drive in Watson which also allowed Shomo to score on an error to take a 2-0 lead.

Brigance would stretch the lead to 3-0 later in the inning with an RBI single.
Â
A Riddle single in the second would drive in Shomo to make the lead 4-0, but SNU would answer with a run in the top of the third to cut into the lead and close to 4-1.

Watson followed with a two-run double in the bottom of the third to push the lead to 6-1, with Riddle, Thompson, and Duty ending the game with back-to-back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth to trigger the run-rule in a 9-1 win.

In the nightcap, Riddle led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance and three RBI, with Shomo and Salyers adding two hits each.

Brigance added a pair of RBI, while Watson and Shomo drove in a run apiece.

Riddle got the start and allowed a run on four hits in 2.1 innings of work before handing the bal to
Emily Cudd who was tagged for three runs on four hits.

Meeks was saddled with the loss after tossing 3.0 innings and allowing seven runs on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Watson homered to open the game and the Storm would get RBI from Shomo and Riddle and two from Brigance in the second inning to open up a 6-0 lead.

An RBI single by Riddle in the third would make the lead 7-0.
Â
Starting in the fourth inning however, SNU would outscore the Storm 11-1 to swipe an 11-8 win in the finale.
