SE Returns From Break to Host ATU, HU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern comes off a 15-day holiday break and jumps headlong back into Great American Conference play when it hosts Arkansas Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 followed by Harding on Jan. 5 at 1 p.m., both in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
The Savage Storm last played on Dec. 18 when it dropped a league matchup to Henderson State 94-92, dropping to 5-4 overall on the year and 3-2 in GAC play.
 
Southeastern comes into the weekend as one of the top scoring teams in the league, averaging 81.9 ppg, while holding opponents to 65.6 per outing.
 
The Storm are led by Katie Webb with a GAC leading 20.9 ppg, while Kamryn Cantwell is in double-figures at 13.0 ppg and Briley Moon is averaging 10.2 per contest off the bench.
 
SE is shooting 43.6 percent overall, but is posting an impressive 40.5 percent from three point range as a team while making a league-best 10.9 threes per game.
 
SE is one of the league-leaders in assists as a team, averaging 19.2 per outing, with four different players who have posted totals in the 20's, led by Tracy Johnsons 29.
 
Webb also leads the way on the glass with 8.7 rpg on the year and is the only player in the league ranked in the top five in scoring and rebounding.
 
ATU comes to town with a 2-2 league record and a 5-5 overall mark and are 2-3 in their last five, including a 64-55 home loss to Missouri-St. Louis in its last outing on Dec. 30.
 
The Golden Suns average 74.9 ppg as a team and feature a trio of double-digit scorers, led by Jacie Higgins who is averaging 12.0 ppg, while Jayana Sanders is triggering the offense with 3.8 assists per game.
 
Lyrik Williams leads the team on the glass with 6.7 rpg, while the defense is averaging 10.9 steals per game as a team.
 
HU enters the weekend with an 8-2 record on the year and a 3-1 GAC record and have won two games since a loss to HSU, including a 70-59 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith in its last matchup on Dec. 31.
 
The Bisons are paced on offense by Kellie Lampo who is averaging 18.7 ppg, while the team is putting up 72.0 per contest.
 
Kennedy Cooper leads the way on the board with 7.0 rpg, with the team holding a 43.3-to-32.0 edge on the glass.
