Webb Scores 31 in Storm Loss

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's Katie Webb dropped 31 points, but it was not enough to lift the Savage Storm past league-leading Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday, falling 93-83 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 9-6 overall and 7-4 in Great American Conference play heading into a Jan. 24 matchup at home with Ouachita Baptist at 5:30 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

For the second time in three outings Webb surpassed the 30-point threshold, finishing the day with 31 points on 12-of-15 shooting, hitting the only three she took and going 6-of-7 at the free throw line.

She led a trio of double-digit scorers with Briley Moon turning in 16 with a trio of threes while Alix Robinson added three threes as well and finished with 11.

Robinson dished out a team-best seven assists, while three others handed out three each.

Webb led the way on the glass as well, finishing just shy of a double-double with eight rebounds while joining Moon in snagging a team-best three steals each.

The Storm shot 55.8 percent for the game from the field, including a 66.7 mark in the fourth quarter.

SWOSU opened the game on a 7-0 run, but SE recovered as a Moon three broke the run and by the 5:53 mark a Katie Branam three would knot the game at 11-11.

SE would eventually take a lead, first on another Moon three and extending it to 20-17 on a pair of Jordan Benson free throws.

However, the Bulldogs would use a 9-2 run over the final two minutes to leave the Storm trailing 26-22 after one quarter.

SWOSU would score the first six points of the second quarter, while the Storm had its coldest shooting effort of the night, including an 0-for-4 mark from three-point range, leading to the Bulldogs outscoring SE in the quarter 25-13 to lead 51-35 at the half.

Southeastern trailed by as many as 21 early in the third quarter, but a 12-4 run capped by a Webb three would trim the deficit to 13 points at 63-50 with 5:58 to go in the third.

The deficit would again reach 21 points in the quarter before a Webb layup and a Robinson three to end the quarter made the score 73-57 heading to the final quarter.

SWOSU's lead would stretch back to 20-points, but over the final six minutes the Storm would use a 20-10 run to fashion the final of 93-83.
