Storm Close Fall Semester with Win

DURANT, Okla. – No. 18 Southeastern had 12 players score on its way to closing out the fall 2019 portion of its season with a 74-55 win over Arlington Baptist on Monday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
The Savage Storm finish the fall semester with a 6-2 record and are tied atop the conference with a 3-1 record in Great American Conference play with its next contest slated for Jan. 2, 2020, on the road against Arkansas Tech at 5:30 p.m. in Russellville, Ark.
 
Katie Webb led all scorers on the night with 14 points, shooting 50.0 percent form the field, while Tracy Johnson turned in 10 points off the bench.
 
Chandler Kemp added nine, with Briley Moon turning int eight and Kamryn Cantwell adding seven.
 
Webb handed out a team-high four assists, while Cantwell, Johnson, and Jordan Benson each finished with three.
 
Moon pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Webb was next up with six.
 
SE finished with five blocked shots as a team with Kemp, Logan Oestreich, Katie Branam, Hailey Belvin, and Casey Monk each posting one.
 
SE shot 48.8 percent in the first quarter and hit 4-of-8 from beyond the arc to Storm out to a 28-13 lead after the first frame.
 
The pace slowed in the second quarter, but SE would still push its lead out to 24 points on a Branam bucket before settling on a 43-23 lead at the intermission.
 
The Storm would extend its lead out to 28 points on a Moon three with 4:36 to go in the third quarter, but the Patriots would chip the SE lead to 61-38 after three quarters.
 
Arlington Baptist would outscore the Storm 17-13 over the fourth quarter, closing to within 14 points, but SE would score the final five points of the game to pick up the 74-55 victory.
