DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern got a stellar pitching outing from
Mason Whitmarsh and Southeastern picked up a 6-1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State in game one on Monday to secure a series victory before falling in the finale 5-3 at The Ballpark in Durant.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 6-7 overall on the year and 4-2 in Great American Conference play heading into a non-conference single game on Feb. 26 against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. At 2 p.m.

Mason Whitmarsh tossed seven and one-third hitless innings before a single would break up the no-no and he would go on to pick up his second win of the year after recording 8.0 innings and allowing one hits while striking out eight.

Beau Swimmer would toss the final inning and allow a run on a hit.

Drew Bolin,
Bryce Deatherage,
Austin Ferguson,
Luke Thomas, and
Caleb Dubler each recorded a hit, while Bolin and Ferguson drove in a pair of runs with Dubler adding one RBI.

All of Southeastern's scoring came in the bottom of the second inning as the Storm sent 10 hitters to the plate in the frame, with Dubler putting SE on the board with an RBI single to score
McCain Mason.

Bolin followed with a two-run single to plate Whitworth and Thomas, which was followed by a two-run Ferguson single that brought home Bolin and Dubler for a 5-0 lead.

Deatherage would steal third and score on an error to bring in the final run and take a 6-0 lead.

That would hold up as the only run the Bulldogs would score came on a solo home run in the top of the ninth to make the final 6-1.

In the finale Cerda,
Davis Jenks, Dubler and Thomas each tallied two hits, while
Slayde Ortiz, Ferguson, and Dubler tacked on an RBI apiece.

Deatherage got the start and tossed 6.0 innings ans took the loss after allowing five runs, only two of them earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Jacob Bigham would toss the final inning and faced the minimum three batters.

SWOSU jumped on top early with three runs in the second, all unearned, and two more in the third would leave the Storm in a 5-0 hole.

SE finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh, first with back-to-back solo homers from Cerda and Ferguson before putting two more runners on for a Dubler RBI single to close the gap to 5-3, but that was as close as they would get.
